Charlotte
Assarsson was born in 1948 and has for more than five decades been active as an artist, choreographer, costume designer, photographer and producer as well as ballet teacher and Pilates instructor.
It all started at the age of 15 when she began her dance
education at the Ballet Academy in Stockholm followed by two years of dance studies in New York and Dayton, Ohio. In 1982 she returned to New York to also study musical theater at the famous HB-studios.
Charlotte's professional carrier started at the age of 19 when she received her first engagement as a dancer at the Gothenburg Opera Ballet where she remained until 1980. During a 2.5 year leave of absence she was also contracted at the Royal Swedish Ballet, the Cramer Ballet and the Swedish National Theater Center in Stockholm. At the latter, she was offered the role of Hodel in "Fiddler on the Roof" and thus she was introduced to the world of musicals.
Together with the dancer and
choreographer Carina Jarlemark she formed The Fairytale Theatre
in 1980 with the intention to produce new musicals for a children and youth
audience. Pretty soon joined also former principal dancer, artistic director
and musical artist Conny Borg and together they created the
children's musical "The Goosemaid" and the rock musical "Passionella" which toured Sweden for two years.
More engagements at various theaters followed, like "Nine" at the Oscar's Theater in Stockholm and "Oklahoma" (in the role of Gertie) at the Swedish National Theater Center, among others.
In 1985 Charlotte took the initiative to form The Musical Theater and as the first production she presented the children's musical "Little Brother and Little Sister" with original music by Elia Cmiral.
In
order to work more
multidisciplinary, Charlotte became one of the founders of Mother
Earth Artists in 1991, a production company which since then has been
the main platform
for her own artistic and creative work.
In 1987 she attended the teacher education in ballet and children's dance at the College of Dance and Circus in Stockholm. As such, she has since been working at several of the most prominent dance schools in Stockholm.
In 2006 Charlotte also attended the Pilates education at Stockholm Pilates Center and was subsequently licensed as a STOTT Pilates instructor. After teaching Pilates at several fitness and health centers as well as artistic schools, she opened the doors to her own training studio, Mother Earth Pilates, in 2012, right in Stockholm center town.
